Dušan Šakota

Dusan Sakota (Greek Ντούσαν Σάκοτα, originally Serbian Душан Шакота / Dušan Šakota; born April 22, 1986 in Belgrade, SR Serbia) is a Greek basketball player of Serbian descent who plays at a height of 2.10 m on the position of small forward.

Dusan Sakota was long regarded as one of the largest Nachwuschtalente of Greek basketball. The son of the famous Serbian coach Dragan Šakota began his career at AEK Athens before joining Panathinaikos Athens in the summer of 2003. With Panathinaikos Sakota could win the most prestigious European club competition ULEB Euro League 2007 and 2009, five national championships and four Cup victories. With the U-19 Youth National Team of Greece Sakota 2003 won the bronze medal at the Junior World Cup. In the 2007/2008 season Sakota was awarded to Panionios Athens. After his re- Triple - profit with Panathinaikos moved Sakota Scavolini Pesaro 2009 to Italy.

25 April 2010 Sakota collided in a game against Teramo Basket with Giuseppe Poeta. First, he played on, but had the following night as well as surgery just two days later at the duodenum to stop internal bleeding. After a good year of convalescence Sakota gave at the beginning of the season 2011/12 his comeback at the Belgian club from Telenet Oostende. Turn of the year he joined the Russian professional league to the Yenisei to Krasnoyarsk in Siberia.

For the 2012/13 season Sakota moved again to Italy and plays the most successful European club of the 1970s Pallacanestro Varese, but in the past decade rather commuted between first and second Italian league.
