Panionios B.C.

Panionios Athens (Greek Πανιώνιος ) is a Greek basketball team. The club currently plays in the Greek A1 League, the top league in the country.

History

The basketball department Panionios Athens took first in the season 1928/1929 in the Greek Cup finals, where they took second place straight away. The greatest success of the team is winning the cup in 1991 when they beat Theofanis Christodoulou in the final PAOK Thessaloniki 73-70. In 1977 and 1995, the association was likewise in the final of the cup competition, both times had to admit defeat, however. 1987 was the club in the final of the Greek championship, losing there to the former series champion Aris Thessaloniki. The most significant international successes were the semi-finals in 1994 and 1998 in the Korac Cup. In the 2008/2009 season the club first participated at the ULEB Euro League. In the 2012/2013 season the club took part in the ULEB Eurocup.

Homestead

Between 2004 and 2009 played Panionios its home games in the occasion of the Olympic Summer Games 2004 newly built indoor arena from. Since the 2009/2010 season Panionios playing again at age Spliestätte, the Klisto Neas Smyrnis.
