Vassilis Xanthopoulos

Vasileios Xanthopoulos (in Greek Βασίλης Ξανθόπουλος, born April 29, 1984 in Athens ) is a Greek professional basketball player who plays at a height of 1.86 m on the position of point guard.

Career

Vasileios Xanthopoulos gained his first experiences as a basketball player at the youth department of Olympiakos Piraeus, in which he in 1997, aged 13 years, occurred. Four years later, he moved in 2001 to also based in Piraeus amateur club Piraikos, where he stayed for one season. In 2002 he went to Athens first division Niar Is where he came up with 50 Erstligaeinsätze in two years and could produce an average of 6.6 points. In summer 2004, Xanthopoulos moved to Greek giants Panathinaikos, where he won the Greek Championship and the Cup straight away. Because Xanthopoulos in the face of strong competition only sporadically came into use ( nine inserts - 1.8 points on average), he was loaned for the 2005/2006 season at PAOK Thessaloniki in order to give him the opportunity to gain match practice. In the season 2006/2007 Xanthopoulos again belonged to the squad of Panathinaikos, where he managed the Triple. Following positions at Panionios and Panellinios he moved again in 2012 to Panathinaikos.
