A. E. Ikaros Chalkidas (Greek AE Ίκαρος Χαλκίδας ) is a Greek basketball team, which is based in Chalkida. Ikaros is currently playing in the A1 Ethniki, the first Greek league.

History

Ikaros Espero was founded in the summer of 2009 after the two clubs Ikaros Kallithea Athens and Espero merged. Espero was founded in 1945 and was a founding member of the Greek Basketball Federation EOK one of the most historic clubs in Greece. Already in the first season after the merger made ​​it the club as the winner of the second division in the A1 Ethniki ascend.

The 2012/2013 season concluded with Ikaros from seventh place after the regular season and thus qualified for the first time in club history for the play offs.

On 18 July 2013, the club announced the 2013/2014 season to move to Chalkida.
