Dutch National Opera
De Nederlandse Opera ( German: Dutch opera ), in short: DNO, is a Dutch opera company based in Amsterdam.
History
De Nederlandse Opera was founded shortly after the end of World War II as a repertory production with solid ensemble. The company of that time had its headquarters in the Stadsschouwburg Amsterdam, a theater of the fin de siècle at the Leidseplein in Amsterdam, showed his productions but also regularly in The Hague, Rotterdam, Utrecht and other Dutch cities.
In 1964 the conversion to the Stagionesystem and renamed De Nederlandse Opera Foundation ( German: Dutch Opera Foundation ). Since then, its own ensemble of singers from guests is compiled for each production.
Since 1986, the main venue of the DNO is in the Music Theatre, a modern building designed by architect Cees Dam. Since then called the company of De Nederlandse Opera also. The new building also regular performances of Het Nationale Ballet, the Dutch National Ballet, and guest programs ring Amsterdam Music Theatre take place.
Presence
The DNO has its own choir with around sixty singers, as well as a salaried technical crew, Dramaturgy and Direction. Since the company of does not own orchestra, one of the many Dutch orchestra is committed for each opera production, including the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, the Nederlands Philharmonic Orchestra ( NPO ) and the Dutch Chamber Orchestra ( NKO ).
The DNO developed each year eleven opera productions, the performances are sold out in the rule. In addition to the Music Theatre, the DNO also recorded occasionally the Stadsschouwburg, the Koninklijk Theater Carré, the industrial building Westergasfabriek. For several years, an opera production is conducted annually together with the Holland Festival and the Concertgebouw Orchestra in June. The DNO co-produced with some opera houses and festivals such as the Metropolitan Opera, the Brooklyn Academy of Music and the Lincoln Center Festival in New York City, the Salzburg Festival and the Adelaide Festival in Australia.
Artistic Director of DNO since 1988, is the director Pierre Audi, commercial director since 1987 is truze Lodder.
