Earl of Liverpool

Earl of Liverpool is a British hereditary title of nobility which is supported by the family Foljambe. The title has been created twice, once in the Peerage of Great Britain and then in the Peerage of the United Kingdom. It is named after the city of Liverpool in Merseyside.

Ceremonies

The title was in the Peerage of Great Britain for Charles Jenkinson, 1st Baron Hawkesbury, first created in 1796. This had been more than 25 years as a member of the House of Commons and ten years Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster. The title became extinct in 1851, when the third Earl, a son of the first Earl, died without a male descendant.

The second award was presented in 1905 to a liberal politician Cecil Foljambe, 1st Baron Hawkesbury, a grandson of the last Earl of the first ceremony. This had been a member of the House of Commons already over ten years and was simultaneously appointed to the Lord Steward of the Household.

Subordinate title

The first Earl of the first award was in 1786 created Baron Hawkesbury, Hawkesbury in the County of of Gloucester, appointed. This title, which also belonged to the Peerage of Great Britain, was run as a subordinate title of the Earls and also terminated in 1851.

The first Earl of the second award was in 1893 created Baron Hawkesbury, in the County of Haselbech of Northampton and of Ollerton, Sherwood Forest, in the County of Nottingham, levied. Simultaneously with the earldom him of belonging to the Peerage of the United Kingdom title of Viscount Hawkesbury, of Kirkham was in the County of York and of Mansfield in the County of Nottingham, awarded. Both titles are handled by their respective Earl as subordinate title. The eldest son of the Earl respective leads as a courtesy title the title Viscount Hawkesbury.

Another title

1790 inherited the first Earl was first awarded in the dignity of a Baronet of Walcot and Hawkesbury. This title belongs to the 1661 -created the Baronetage of England and was led by the respective Earl. He went out in 1851 not, but fell to a distant relative. It still exists today.

The heir apparent is the eldest son of the present Earl, Luke Foljambe, Viscount Hawkesbury (* 1972).
