Earth 2: Special Low - Frequency Version is the first studio album by the American band Earth. The band is one of the pioneers of the musical genre Drone Doom.
Formation
The album was recorded in Seattle, Washington in August 1992 in the recording studio Avast Studios.
Style and content
The instrumental music on the album is very repetitive arranged and played at a very slow pace. So the third piece Like Gold and Faceted basically contains only a single, constantly repeated changes of two chords. The instrumentation consists primarily of electric guitar and electric bass; Like Gold and Faceted only additionally includes a soundtrack with percussion. The title of the piece Seven Angels refers to the Book of Revelation of John.
Reception
The album is regarded as a milestone of the genre Drone Doom. It influenced bands like Sunn O))), Boris and Teeth of Lions Rule the Divine.
The Allmusic guide that rated the album four and a half out of five stars, the music of Earth 2 as " imbued with threat and distortion " is described. The website looks everything2.com Earth 2 as " the incarnation of the Drone " and referred only album altar as equivalent.
