East India DLR station

East India is a station on the Docklands Light Railway (DLR ) in the London Borough London Borough of Tower Hamlets. It lies on the boundary of Travelcard Zones 2 and 3, at the Aspen Way in the Blackwall area. The name comes from the former East India Docks, where once lay the merchant vessels to and from the Indian subcontinent at anchor.

The station was opened on 28 March 1994, together with the branch line towards Beckton. You would have originally Brunswick should be called, after the nearby Brunswick Dock. The word is used today in the depots on the destination displays to indicate that a car has been cleaned. This ad appeared in February 2001 in an episode of the ITV police series The Bill as fictitious terminus.

During the heyday of the Docklands was a little southeast of the present station of the East India Blackwall Station on the London and Blackwall Railway. It was opened on 6 July 1840 and was until May 4, 1926 in operation. From the station, nothing has been preserved.
