East Ryde, New South Wales

East Ryde is a suburb of Sydney in Australia. He belongs to the northern suburbs and is located 12 km north- west of the center of Sydney. It belongs to the Local Government Area Ryde City. Townscape

East Ryde is a relatively small, quiet suburb which is surrounded on three sides by bushland and water. The largest part of the suburb is located on a large hill. The districts on the banks of the Lane Cove River are above the mangrove swamps and are characterized by large, modern houses in (mainly on the Pittwater Road).

History

The entire area was once a Terpentinkiefern and Ironbark Eucalyptus forest. End of the 1950s it was used as a garbage dump of the community, but then backfilled, leveled and developed the new district. Originally it was called North Ryde Dress Circle Estate and belonged to North Ryde. But then he was for his own suburban East Ryde.

In July 2006, tried a number of residents without success, the place name to change again to allow for rising land prices. Proposals were Melba, Dress Circle, Boronia Heights, Bennelong and Wallumatta. The movement was eventually stopped at a public meeting at which spoke out about 75 % of the present inhabitants of East Ryde for the retention of the name.

Great North Walk

In the 1980s, a long-distance trail from Sydney to Newcastle was created, the Great North Walk was called. The trail follows part of the Lane Cove River and crosses East Ryde between the Buffalo Creek and the Magdala Park. Major attractions in the area are the mangroves at Buffalo Creek and Kitty's Creek, where paved roads were built that enable walking through the mangroves. In the nature reserve Buffalo Creek, there is a possibility of picnic.

Train

The Ryde East Primery School, a primary school, located in the Twin Road and has about 350 students.
