Ebergassing is a municipality with 3900 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013 ) in the district of Wien-Umgebung in Lower Austria.

Geography

Ebergassing is located in the industrial area by the river Fischa in the Vienna Basin. 10.57 percent of the area of the municipality is forested.

History

In ancient times, the area was part of the province of Pannonia. 1120 is mentioned in a document of the milker place Ebergozzingen that Ebergassinger were the Untertruchsess of Lower Austria. The castle in 1334 belonged to a branch of Stuchsen of Trautmann village. 1486 succeeded in Hungary with the help of mercenaries Vienna Ebergassing take after a prolonged siege. 1540 bought Andreas Thonradl the rule. The old fortification was rebuilt into a Renaissance castle. Since the Barons of Thonradl were among the leading Protestants in Lower Austria, their property was confiscated in 1620. 1642 was the possession of the Prince of Liechtenstein, which led the expansion of the baroque castle. From 1788 to 1811 the estate belonged to the noble von Trattner. Francis of Schloissnigg had carried out extensive renovations 1863-1865.

The early establishment of industries was favored by the Fischa, the low water level and temperature fluctuations in the best conditions managed it. In the reign of Maria Theresa ( mid 18th century ) a Stückbohrwerk or Kanonenbohrerei for artillery in Ebergassing was built. Around 1770, Johann Thomas Trattner had converted a mill into a paper mill, which later acquired by the production of endless paper world importance (see Vincent mush ). Pride could also be on the production of the first banknote paper for the Austrian National Bank. The so-called Ebergassinger colony was one of the first workers' housing estates in eastern Austria.

After the "Anschluss " of Austria into the Third Reich in 1938, the town was incorporated as part of the newly created 23rd district Schwechat to Greater Vienna. The municipality was created in 1954 by the separation of Vienna independent again.

Population Development

According to the results of the 2001 census, there were 3,449 inhabitants. In 1991 the municipality had 2,880 inhabitants in 1981 and 2,746 in 1971, 2,549 inhabitants.

Policy

Mayor of the municipality is novel Stachelberger ( SPÖ).

In the council, there are a total of 23 seats after the municipal elections of 14 March 2010, the following distribution of seats: List SPÖ 16, ÖVP list 6, CIVIL LIST 1, other parties have no seats.

Economy and infrastructure

In 2001, there were 95 Ebergassing non-agricultural workplaces, according to the 1998 survey were compared to the 38 agricultural or forestry holdings. The number of employed persons in 2001 was at the residence, 1781., The employment rate was 52.33 percent ( as of 2001).
