Ecco the Dolphin (series)
Ecco the Dolphin is a video game series that was first published in 1992 by the company Sega for the Sega Mega Drive. The game was developed by Appaloosa Interactive.
Game play
The player takes on the role of the young dolphin Ecco, whose adventures kidnapped him into a strange but breathtaking underwater world. So it helps in some places in need -down animals that no longer find their way alone in the underwater world. Or to catch fish, passes a school of fish or just swim a race. Ecco: The Tides of Time
The successor of 1995 is similar to the first part. There were new puzzles and new enemies. The graphics were in some levels almost 3D.

Ecco Jr.
This version, also from 1995, is similar to the other two versions. However, the difficulty has been significantly reduced, because the target group was more likely the younger players. There was additional information about dolphins, as well as a parent menu with passwords.
Ecco the Dolphin: Defender of the Future
The Sega Dreamcast version of 2000, a new, three-dimensional game world, which was described by science fiction author David Brin. Thus, there was also another controller. The music was composed by Tim Follin.

It was published in 1993, a six -volume comic book series based on the first part of the game. Moreover soundtrack by Spencer Nilsen on the Sega CD ( Part 2) was included.
Unofficial successor
2013 launched the designer of the original Mega Drive games from Ecco the Dolphin, Ed Annunziata, a campaign on the crowdfunding platform Kickstarter.com to develop the unofficial successor to The Big Blue.
