Écrosnes

Écrosnes is a commune with 803 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Eure- et- Loir in the Centre region.

Geography

Écrosnes is situated 75 km south-west of Paris and 25 km northeast of Chartres near the border with the department of Yvelines.

Through the town flows a brook, which flows a few kilometers further on at Gallardón in the Voise.

To the municipality next to the village Écrosnes includes the villages Écrignolles, Giroudet and Jonvilliers. Neighboring municipalities are Bleury - Saint- Symphorien, Gallardón, gas, Émancé and Orphin

History

The discovery of prehistoric axes demonstrates the early settlement of the area. Related grinding stones were reused in the wall of a house.

Buildings and monuments

The oldest parts of the nave of the parish church of Saint Martin were enlarged in the 16th century with two side chapels.

The restored Château de Jonvilliers from the 18th century in the village belonging to the municipality Jonvilliers now serves as a guest house.
