Precious scrap is a market town with 1597 inhabitants ( 1 January 2013 ) in the judicial district or district Voitsberg, Styria. From 1 January 2015 it has joined forces framework of the Styrian municipality structural reform with the community Modriach, the new community will be called " precious junk" to continue.

Geography

Location

The center is located at mid- distance between Koeflach and the pack-saddle on 793 m above sea level. The Weststeirische Hills as well as the Teigitsch, which is dammed on their way to the Kainach to three lakes ( Packer and Hirzmannstausee, Langmann lock), the landscape shape in and around precious scrap.

Main artery of the region is the packers road B70, which runs from Graz to Klagenfurt on the pack.

By, despite the near route of the Southern Motorway (A2 ), quiet location in the Styrian -Carinthian border precious scrap enjoys with its lakes, ski area etc. reputation as a recreational and tourist destination.

History

The name " precious junk" is a clearing ( MHG shot " cut piece, block "; MHG grind " (ab) hew, cut (down) " ) and the Slovenian word jelen "Deer" is derived. The name 1245 is as " Gelenschroet ".

1995 stainless scrap was jun Governor Josef Krainer. raised to the market town.

Education

In the village there is a local school center with music elementary school, which is run in school experiment for 25 years .. The affiliated high school and Musikhauptschule participates in 2008 launched a pilot project " new middle school " with a focus on " music." In 2007, next to the school center, a community nursery school was built.

Infrastructure

After many post office closures in 2005, the post office Edelschrott became the central distribution of some surrounding communities. In the village there are also some commercial and industrial companies, a general practitioner with house pharmacy and a dentist. It is also one of the seven police stations of the district police commandos Voitsberg in place.
