Marhof until the end of 2014 a municipality with 1051 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013 ) in the district of Germany Berg ( judicial district of Vienna) in Styria. As part of the Styrian community structure reform, it is merged in 2015 with the communities Stainz, stable yard, Stainztal, Rassach and Georg Berg, the new community will continue the name Stainz. Geography

Location

The municipality is located Marhof in Western Styria and consists of four cadastral. Most important rivers in the municipality are the Theussenbach, the Sierlingbach and the Rain Bach, all of the Stainzbach open into the largest stream of the community. Neighboring communities

History

First, individual finds in the municipal area are obtained from the Roman period, as here, the Noric, a Celtic tribe settled. On Sporiroa oven finds from the late Lasinja culture and the period around 1100 AD have been found in archaeological excavations. Perhaps the healing source of today's Bad Sauerbrunn was already used by the Romans.

In the 13th century, was built northwest of Marhof above the Sauerbrunn and Theußenbachgrabens the castle Whose stone. It was created on 1 January 1968 by the merger of the previously independent municipalities Sierling and trough and part of the former municipality of forest in Western Styria ( forest districts, Price Mountain, Green Baumgarten and Schönegg ). The municipality had 2001 1.063 inhabitants according to the census. 99.0 % of the population possess Austrian citizenship. For the Roman Catholic Church to 91.6 % of the population profess, 4.5 % have no religious confession.

Coat of arms
