History

The name is (runs Slovenian paka voda " which, flowing to the other side water) from Slovenian paka " Hill, Hill ", also a reference to the watershed derived. Another interpretation refers to the fact that the pack-saddle was a limit to which the transfer of the goods to be repacked had (a similar derivation for the "Lift " almen of Styria's Edge Mountains is where goods had to be re lifted between different trolleys ). An older designation of the region "Four Thöre " is derived from an intersection, their joints were finished with four goals.

In the 15th and 16th centuries Pack was after the district classification of Styria in 1462 initially in the area of Upper Styria in the "quarter enhalb the Piberalm " and there in Judenburger district. For this quarter also belonged to the Kainachtal by league team and Lieboch, Übelbach and valley west of Graz. In the year 1677 the Kainachtal and its surroundings was, therefore, the area of packaging, released from the Jews castle district and the "quarter between Mur and Traa " ( Drava ), pulled the predecessor of Marburg circle in which it first, even after the regional reforms remained under Maria Theresa and Joseph II. As from 1 November 1783 Kainachtal came from Marburg circle to the Graz circle.

On May 6, 1543 Philipp Renner consecrated as Coadjutor Bishop Lavanter Leonhard Peurl "ad eccl. parrochialem in Packh " a bell. The bishops of Lavant had as suffragans of the Archbishop of Salzburg, the right to make ordinations to the archbishopric of Salzburg belonging areas, even if the respective parish did not belong to her bishopric ( Pack already belonged to the diocese at that time Seckau ).

The territory belonged in the 16th and 17th centuries for the lower courts to the " castle keep of the office pack, Hirscheck and Modriach " for the higher (blood ) jurisdiction to district court Voitsberg - Greißenegg the manorial Obervoitsberg. This was true, but only outside of the roof Traufes Within its full lower courts was in the 16th century with the respective landlords. The pack was already at that time an important transition, which is documented by its inclusion in the work " Topographia Ducatus Stiriae, Graz 1681 " by Georg Matthäus Vischer.

From 1770, in the first person and houses collection in Austria, people, draft cattle and houses from Pack are recorded independently. This recording took place under Maria Theresa and Joseph II in the army reforms. She led (also called Konskriptionsgemeinden ) for introducing the " Numerierungsabschnitte ". Pack was such a section. Together with the Numerierungsabschnitt Modriach belonged Pack to the western part of the Werbbezirks league team. From the Numerierungsabschnitt was in the years after the homonymous municipality and cadastral tax pack.

The municipality was created in 1850 without change from the cadastral area.
