Modriach is an Austrian municipality in the district court or district Voitsberg in Styria with 204 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013). From 1 January 2015 it has joined forces framework of the Styrian municipality structural reform with the market town of precious scrap, the new community will be called " precious junk" to continue.

Geography

Modriach is located southwest of Graz in the north of the Kor on the border with Packalpe. There are some small localities of tourmaline, epidote, beryl, sphene, zircon, cassiterite and spodumene in it.

Modriach consists only of a cadastral district that bears the same name as the community and includes the headwaters of the Modriachbaches and its headwaters. The community has remained unchanged within its borders since the 18th century. Transport links lead north across side roads to Packer Street and the exit Modriach the southern motorway. The village is connected by a school bus traffic on the line 722 of the Styrian Transport Association with Koeflach. This line is operated by the TBI, other public transport relationships do not exist.

The neighboring communities of Modriach are the east and north precious scrap in the south cloister, in the West Pack.

In the south of the municipality is located in the district of Packwinkel the Hebalm with the eponymous ski area, in the southwest of Reinischkogel. These areas are, however, accessible from Modriach not on public roads, but only on forest and hiking trails.

It lies at the Modriachbach, which rises at the Hebalm and empties into the packer creek.

Modriach forms a parish of the Diocese Seckau. This parish is no longer occupied by a resident priest, but belongs to Pfarrverband Koflach, Koflach at Pichling, Hirschegg, Modriach and pack.

History

Mother parish of the area was the parish Piber, looked after from the 12th century to 1786 by the Abbey of St. Lambrecht. The area of the St. Lambrecht was at this time formally to the diocese Seckau, but had extensive privileges.

In the 15th and 16th centuries Pack was after the district classification of Styria in 1462 initially in the area of ​​Upper Styria in the "quarter enhalb the Piberalm " and there in Judenburger district. For this quarter also belonged to the Kainachtal by league team and Lieboch, Übelbach and valley west of Graz. In 1677, the Kainachtal and its surroundings was, therefore, the area of Modriach, released from the Jews castle district and the "quarter between Mur and Traa " ( Drava ), pulled the predecessor of Marburg circle. In this district, Styria, the community initially remained after the regional reforms under Maria Theresa and Joseph II remained. As from 1 November 1783 Kainachtal came from Marburg circle to the Graz District, the southern boundaries of Modriach became the county boundary.

The territory belonged in the 16th and 17th centuries for the lower courts to the " castle keep of the office pack, Hirscheck and Modriach " for the higher (blood ) jurisdiction to district court Voitsberg - Greißenegg the manorial Obervoitsberg. This was true, but only outside of the roof Traufes Within its full lower courts was in the 16th century with the respective landlords.

From 1770, in the first person and houses collection in Austria, people, draft cattle and houses from Modriach are recorded independently. This recording took place under Maria Theresa and Joseph II in the army reforms. She led (also called Konskriptionsgemeinden ) for introducing the " Numerierungsabschnitte ". Modriach was such a section. Together with the Numerierungsabschnitt Pack belonged Modriach to the western part of the Werbbezirks league team. The municipality was created in 1850 without change from the cadastral area.

Tourism

The place has regional as hiking and skiing importance, and mountain bike cross-country tours run by the municipality. The Schrogentor on the southern border is a marked waypoint.
