Edmund Coffin

Edmund " Tad " Sloane Coffin ( born May 9, 1955 in Toledo, Ohio ) is a former American professional eventer and Olympic champion.

The nephew of the pastor and peace activist William Sloane Coffin grew up on Long Iceland and began riding at the age of ten years. From 1973, he was trained by the French Olympic medalist Jack Le Goff. At the Pan American Games in 1975 in Mexico City Coffin won the gold medal in the individual and in the team standings. He celebrated his biggest success at the Olympic Games in Montreal in 1976 with victories in singles competition and with the team, each with the horse Bally Cor.

Then Coffin retired from professional sports. He lives with his family in Charlottesville, Virginia, has worked as a youth coach and manufactures full- quality saddles.
