Eduard Jäger von Jaxtthal

Edward Hunter of Jaxtthal ( born June 25, 1818 in Vienna, † July 5, 1884 in Vienna ) was an Austrian ophthalmologist. He was the son of Friedrich Jäger of Jaxtthal.

Hunters of Jaxtthal introduced the ophthalmoscope and provided valuable contributions to the anatomy of the eye. Through his eyes, operations, he acquired world fame. He earned from glaucoma to the dioptrics and teaching. His images of the fundus could not be surpassed for many decades.
