Edvīns Ķeņģis

Edvīns Kengis ( pronunciation: [ ɛdvi ː ns cɛɲɟis ], born April 12, 1959 in Cesis ) is a Latvian chess grandmaster and trainer. He has an Elo rating of 2545 (January 2011) and is therefore in the national rankings at number two. Kengis was eight times the Latvian championship to decide for himself (1984, 1987, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1997, 2004 and 2005). In 1985, he won the Baltic championship in Pärnu for himself and in 1986 he shared the first place with Alexander and Alexander Shabalov Malevinsky in Haapsalu.

Kengis participated as players six times in chess Olympiads (1992-1998 and 2002-2004). With the SG Porz he was in the 2003/ 04 German team champion.

In 1982 he became an International Master in 1991 he was awarded the grandmaster title. Since January 2010 he has played no rated game.
