Edward Champlin

Edward Champlin ( born June 3, 1948) is an American historian.

Edward Champlin was brought mainly by the Roman Revolution by Ronald Syme representation of Roman history. Champlin made ​​in 1970 BA in History at the University of Toronto. In 1972, the Master in Classics followed also in Toronto. In 1976, he earned a D.Phil. in Literae Humaniores ( studying with classical content, ancient history and philosophy). From 1984 to 1985 he was an Alexander von Humboldt Fellow at the University of Heidelberg. Since 1986 Champlin is Professor of Classics ( Classical Studies ) and since 1987 as a Cotsen Professor of Humanities at Princeton University. From 1995 to 2003 he was master of Butler College, 2007-2008 Fellow of the National Endowment for the Humanities ( NEH ). Champlin is a corresponding member of the German Archaeological Institute.

His research focuses on the social and cultural history of the Roman Republic and the early Roman Empire. Champlin submitted a prominent feature on the Roman Emperor Nero. He is one of the editors of the prestigious Hand book The Cambridge Ancient History.
