Edward Danner Ziegler

Edward Danner Ziegler ( born March 3, 1844, in Bedford, Bedford County, Pennsylvania, † December 21, 1931 in York, Pennsylvania ) was an American politician. Between 1899 and 1901 he represented the State of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Edward Ziegler attended the public schools of his home. In 1865 he graduated from the Pennsylvania College in Gettysburg. After that, he taught for some time as a teacher at the York County Academy. After studying law and his 1868 was admitted to the bar he began in York to work in this profession. In the years 1881 and 1883 he was district attorney in York County. Politically, he joined the Democratic Party. In July 1884 he was a delegate to the Democratic National Convention in Chicago in part, was first nominated to the Grover Cleveland as a presidential candidate.

In the congressional elections of 1898 Ziegler was in the 19th electoral district of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of George Jacob Benner on March 4, 1899. Since he was not nominated by his party for re-election in 1900, he was able to complete only one term in Congress until March 3, 1901. After his time in the U.S. House of Representatives Ziegler practiced as a lawyer again. In the years 1923 to 1925, he held various offices in the administration of York County. He then continued his legal practice. He died on December 21, 1931 in York.
