Edward Joseph Gilbert

Edward Joseph Gilbert, C.Ss.R. ( born December 26, 1936 in Brooklyn ) is an American priest and retired Archbishop of Port of Spain.

Life

Edward Joseph Gilbert joined the Congregation of the Redemptorists and received on 21 June 1964, the ordination. John Paul II appointed him on 1 July 1994 as Bishop of Roseau.

He received his episcopal consecration of the Archbishop of Castries, Kelvin Edward Felix, on 7 September of the same year; Co-consecrators were Ronald Gerard Connors, C.Ss.R., Bishop of San Juan de la Maguana, Eustaquio Pastor Cuquejo Verga CSsR, Military Bishop of Paraguay.

On 21 March 2001 he was appointed Archbishop of Port of Spain and introduced into the office on 5 May of the same year. On December 26, 2011, Pope Benedict XVI. its age-related resignation.
