Effigy of the Forgotten (English:, Effigy of the Forgotten ') was the first full -length album by the American death metal band Suffocation.

Genesis

Some of the songs have already been released on the previous mini-album Human Waste, however, the production of the album was not as rough as that of the previous album. In the songs of pure Cremation and Mass Obliteration George " Corpsegrinder " Fisher of Monstrosity was (today Cannibal Corpse and Paths of Possession ) is active as a guest singer. For the cover artwork by Dan Seagrave is responsible. After the album Josh Baron got out and joined at Autopsy.

The album was re-released in 2003 along with Pierced from Within.

Music style

The album quickly played Death Metal mixed with grindcore influences. When it was published, many could not do anything with this kind of music. Frank Albrecht of Rock Hard magazine described the band's music as " lawn mower sound " and " hacks pure ". Today, the album is considered a classic of the technically played death metal.
