Efraín Flores

Efraín Flores Mercado ( born February 6, 1958 in Juchipila, Zacatecas ) is a Mexican football coach and former player.

Biography

Efraín Flores began his coaching career in the 1980s at Club Jalisco and then moved to Club Atlas, where he initially División in the Tercera, and later in the Segunda División playing reserve teams in charge. For the first time in the 1994/95 season he was temporarily used as interim coach of the first team. After the departure of Argentine coach Eduardo Solari at the end of the season 1995/96 he was the first time a contract for a Erstligamannschaft and oversaw the CF Atlas in the 1996/97 season in the Primera División. After a fairly balanced verlaufenen Apertura 1996, the Clausura 1997 was quite modest, which led to his replacement after nine game days. But he remained on the coaching staff, trained again reserve teams and was appointed again to the head coach of the Erstligamannschaft of Atlas for the Torneo Invierno 2001. For the subsequent Torneo Verano 2002, he moved to Leon, but could not prevent the descent of the traditional club.

After 14 years in the service of Club Atlas, interrupted only by his six-month trainer time in Leon, he signed just with its city rivals Chivas Guadalajara a starting July 1, 2004 contract as athletic director on the junior level of the three associations of the President Jorge Vergara Madrigal: CD Guadalajara, Chivas USA and Deportivo Saprissa. After the departure of José Manuel de la Torre in September 2007 he was appointed head coach of CD Guadalajara. He held this job from until March 2009, when he was transferred back to the post of sporting director on the junior level.

In recognition of his achievements for the club Guadalajara Flores was appointed in June 2009 to sporting vice-president of the association.

Following the resignation of Javier Aguirre Flores assisted on 30 June 2010 together with Enrique Meza as interim coach the Mexican national team, to Jose Manuel de la Torre with a new coach was appointed on October 19, 2010.
