Egypt national football team

The Egyptian national football team is the national team of Egypt and is subject to the Egyptian Football Association. As the first country on the African continent, Egypt 1934 took part in a World Cup, but failed the team in the first round with 2:4 in Hungary. A second time, Egypt was able to qualify for the 1990 World Cup, but failed in the first round. From 1958 to 1970, the Egyptian national football team started under the name United Arab Republic ( 1958-1961 jointly with Syria).

Egypt won the first European Championship in 1957 and was successful in 1959, 1986, 1998, 2006, 2008 and 2010 repeat. Thus Egypt is also the sole record title holder. 2010 succeeded in Egypt as the first team to win the African Cup for the third time in a row. 1992 Egypt also won the title in the Arab Cup.

By the third consecutive title at the Africa Cup Egypt could rise 14 places in the FIFA world rankings in February 2010 and was placed there until February 2011 as the best African team, then Egypt fell to the third rank of the African teams.
