Elche CF

Elche Club de Fútbol is a Spanish football club based in Elche.

History

The club was founded on 10 January 1923 as moose Football Club. Six years later he participated in the first season of the newly formed Tercera División part. In 1934, the rise in the Segunda División. As a result of the Spanish Civil War the club in 1939, renamed in Elche Club de Fútbol, as it was henceforth prohibited associations to conduct non-Spanish name components. In the following years they played almost exclusively in the Tercera División. With the start of the season in 1957/58 FC Elche but then scored a sensational walkover, whereupon the club for the first time División in the season 1959/60 in La Liga again found. 1964 reached Elche with the fifth place in the league, the best to date placing the club's history. In 1966, the club with Vavá become the first and only time the top scorer in the league.

After a brief stint in the Segunda División followed from 1973 five more seasons in the 1st league. However, after the decline in the season 1977/78 the club missed repeated almost the climb. He succeeded - as in 1984 and 1988 - so we increased sequentially season right again. In 1991 he did the descent into the Segunda División B. However, since 1999 the club was playing in the second league. In the 2010/11 season played Elche to last for the promotion to the Primera División with. In the two crucial relegation matches, however, the FC Granada was able to prevail on the away goals rule. In the 2012/13 season the club eventually tried and failed to rise and thus after 24 years to return to the Primera División.
