Elías Piña is one of the 31 provinces of the Dominican Republic. It is in the west on the border with Haiti. The province has 63 029 inhabitants ² in an area of ​​1395.5 km.

The province was established in 1942 with the name of San Rafael. In 1965 was named the Province of La Estrelleta until finally in 1972 received its present name.
