Elie Amsini Kiswaya

Elie Amsini Kiswaya ( born August 25, 1928 in Kindu, Maniema province, Belgian Congo, † 11 December 2008 ) was Roman Catholic Bishop of Sakania - Kipushi.

Life

Elie Amsini Kiswaya received after studying Catholic theology and philosophy on July 26, 1959, the ordination.

Pope Paul VI. appointed him in 1975 to the bishop of Sakania. He received his episcopal consecration on 21 February 1976, the Archbishop of Leopoldville, Joseph -Albert Cardinal Maloula; Co-consecrators were Eugène Kabanga Songasonga, Archbishop of Lubumbashi, and Albert Onyembo Lomandjo CSSP, Bishop of Kindu. In 1977, the name change was made to the diocese Sakania - Kipushi under his leadership. He headed the diocese under the difficult conditions of the rule of Mobutu Sese Seko until his resignation in 1997 and the re-establishment of the Democratic Republic of Congo from the former Zaire under Laurent- Désiré Kabila.

His age-related resignation was accepted by Pope John Paul II in 2001.
