Elisa Togut

Elisa Togut ( born May 14, 1978 in Gorizia, Italy) is an Italian volleyball player. She celebrated her biggest success in the 2002 World Cup, when she won the title with the national team and was also named the best player of the tournament. With their club Vicenza she won a year ago in what was then the CEV Cup.

Career

Togut began her career as a volleyball player in 1994 in the youth team of Volley Modena, which starred in the series B2, the fourth Italian league. The following season it was used already in the first team of the club in Serie A1, and thus belonged to the squad of the team that won the Top Teams Cup. Since the Diagonalangreiferin was not yet established, they went to this title for a first season in the third-class series B1, before returning in 1997 by New Line Vignola to Modena. When the Italian Association 1998 on the promotion of volleyball founded the Project Club Italia to Togut offered the opportunity to come into the Italian national team, with which at the European Championships at home, she won the bronze medal a year later. In Arsizio, she returned to Serie A and after they had moved in 2000 to Minetti Vicenza, began their most successful period. With the club, she won the Italian Super Cup and the CEV Cup and the national team reached the final of the European Championships in Bulgaria. In the subsequent World Cup 2002, it had a large part in that for the first time Italy won the title and was named the most valuable player (MVP) of the tournament in Germany selected. After the peak, she played for six years at Monte Schiavo Jesi, but in the club she was not as successful as in the national team. Another silver medal at the 2005 European Championships and two top placings at the Grand Prix completed the list of Toguts successes. In 2009, she interrupted her career because of a pregnancy. After she became mother of a son in March 2010, she continued her career at second division Icos Crema.
