Elizabeth Goudge
Elizabeth Goudge ( born April 24, 1900 in Wells, Somerset, † April 1, 1984 in Rotherfield Peppard ) was an English writer. It was the little white horse known primarily for the children's book.
Life
After her birth in the English Wells, she moved with her family to Ely. When her father, Henry Leighton Goudge was appointed Regius Professor of Divinity in 1923 at Oxford Christ Church College, she followed her parents to Oxford. As a freelance writer since 1966, she lived until her death withdrawn in Rotherfield, Oxfordshire.
Work
After her first book, The Fairies ' Baby and Other Stories in 1919 had little success, she published only in 1934 with Iceland Magic ( German: Island Magic ) her second album. 1946 she was awarded the traditional Carnegie Medal for The Little White Horse. The book was made into a film in 1994 under the title of Moonacre for British television; the newer movie version celebrated under the title The Secret of Moonacre ( The Secret of Moonacre ) 2008 premiere. The 1944 published novel Green Dolphin Country was also filmed as Green Dolphin Street 1947 and won the Oscar for special effects.
