Carnegie Medal (literary award)

The Carnegie Medal in Literature ( Carnegie Medal for Literature ) is a British award for children's and youth books. It is named after Andrew Carnegie. Nominated books must be written in English and should be published in the previous year in the UK. The jury consists of members of the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals ( CILIP ). In addition, the Kate Greenaway Medal is awarded for excellent illustrators.

The prize is awarded in July of the following year. In addition to the Medal of the winner will receive a book token over 500 pounds, he can donate a public library or a school library.

2012 won with Patrick Ness ' A Monster Calls the first book both the Carnegie Medal and the Kate Greenway Medal for best illustrations.
