William Mayne

William James Carter Mayne ( born March 16, 1928 in Hull, Yorkshire, † March 23 2010 in Thornton Rust, Yorkshire ) was an English children's book author who also used the pseudonyms Martin Cobalt and Dynely James.

Life

Mayne visited the Choristenschule at Canterbury Cathedral and taught at Deakin University and later the role college. He wrote more than 100 books, one of which follow the footprints in 1953 was his debut novel. His book A Swarm in May was filmed and Earth have been sent in 1994 by the BBC as a five-part TV movie.

2004 William Mayne was jailed for two and a half years after he admitted to having committed crimes in the years 1960-1975 several times in children.
