Elliott J. Clawson

Elliot Jud Clawson ( born January 19, 1883 in Salt Lake City, Utah; † July 21, 1942 in Vista, California ) was an American film producer and screenwriter who was nominated for the Academy Awards in April 1930 for four Oscars.

Life

Clawson began as a screenwriter and author of the scenarios and stories of silent films in 1913 with the film Shadows of Life by Phillips Smalley and Lois Weber and worked throughout his career in the creation of over 80 films.

He had his greatest success in the second Oscar ceremony in April 1930 when he was nominated for the same four films for the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay and indeed for the crime drama The Cop (1928 ) by Donald Crisp, the film drama Skyscrapers ( 1928) of Howard Higgin, the film drama Sal of Singapore ( 1928) by Howard Higgin and the war film The Leatherneck (1929 ), also directed by Howard Higgin.

Most recently, he was involved with the dialogue texts in the film The Thirteenth Chair ( 1929) by Tod Browning on a film. In addition, he produced with The Hoosier Schoolmaster (1914 ) by Edwin August and Max Figman and A Certain Rich Man ( 1921) by Howard C. Hickman also two films as co- producer.
