Elżbieta Sikora

Elżbieta Sikora ( born October 20, 1943 in Lviv ) is a Polish composer.

Sikora studied from 1951 to 1963 piano at the music school in her hometown. This was followed up in 1968 to study as a sound engineer at the Music Academy in Warsaw. From 1968 to 1970, a study of electronic music by François Bayle and Pierre Schaeffer at the Groupe de Recherches Musicales in Paris followed. She then returned to Warsaw to study composition with Tadeusz Baird and Zbigniew Rudziński ( Master's degree 1977). From 1981 to 1984 she took private lessons in composition with Betsy Jolas and studied computer music at IRCAM and John Chowning at Stanford University. In 1973 she founded with Krzysztof Knittel and Wojciech Michniewski the group of composers KEW:

When Komponistenwetbbewerb 1978 in Dresden Sikora won the second prize with the opera Ariadna. In the competition for Experimental Music in Bourges, she was with honorable Erwähnungnen and 2000 awarded the Prix Magisterium. In the competition for composers in Mannheim 1981 she won the First Prize for Guernica. The SACEM they recorded in 1994 with the Prix Pedagogique and the Prix Stephane Chapelier - Clergue -Gabriel - Marie from. In 1997 she received the Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland.
