Emperor Shijō

Kaiser Shijō (Japanese四条 天皇, Shijō - tennō; * March 17, 1231, † February 10, 1242 ) was the 87th Tennō of Japan (26 October 1232-10 February 1242. ). His proper name was Mitsuhito (秀 仁).

Shijō was the eldest son of Emperor Go - Horikawa. Go- Horikawa handed over the throne to Shijō than Shijō was one year old. Two years after his coronation, his father died, which was only 22 years old.

Shijō died ten years ago from an illness and was succeeded by his cousin Go- Saga.
