Endless Summer (Christian Fennesz album)

Endless Summer is the second studio album of the Austrian electronic musician and sound artist Christian Fennesz, better known as Fennesz. It was released on July 3, 2001 Mego and was published in 2003 again. This re-issue with two bonus tracks were included, the edition had a different cover.

It is still regarded as the most financially successful album from Fennesz.

Style

Like many other works of Fennesz also focuses on this record digitally manipulated guitar sounds, but this time with a stronger preference for melodies and pop -like compositions as his rather more experimental, earlier publications. Endless Summer shares the title of the disk with a Hitkompilation the Beach Boys ( Endless Summer, 1974). This album has been viewed by Fennesz as a great inspiration to his work, but just as the same name surf movie The Endless Summer from the 60s. Fennesz " coverte " the Beach Boys in 1998 on his EP Plays.

Reception

The album was very well received.

Resident Advisor rated the album as a 41st best album of the decade. It received five out of five.

At Tiny Mixtapes it landed on number 14 in the list of the best records of the decade. and the album at number 26 of the list of Pitchfork Media Pitchfork When was evaluated on 31 July 2001, with 9.4 of 10 points.

Tobias Lindemann writes in the Test Card # 11: Humour:

" From his past as a guitarist Fennesz has never made a secret, is for him and the guitar remains an important sound source. But opposite the reintroduction of the guitar in popular music produced electronically via sampling [ ... ] it does not rely on pure organic sound. Instead, it generates even the most abstract sounds from a few chords and picking. Never concealed Endless Summer to be the child of a computer hard drive. [ ... ] The feat that Fennesz succeed so easily here is the connection between unerringly emotional melodies and abstraction. "
