Enrique Norten

Enrique Norten (born 1954 in Mexico City) is a Mexican architect and director of Taller de Enrique Norten Arquictectos SC (TEN Arquitectos ).

Biography

Norton studied architecture at the Universidad Iberoamericana and graduated in 1978 with a BA title. After his postgraduate studies at Cornell University in Ithaca, where he received the MA degree in 1980 and works in the port from 1981 to 1995 as a partner at Albin y Norten Arquitectos SC his real work as an architect. In 1986 he founded in cooperation with Bernardo Gómez- Pimienta Taller de Enrique Norten SC (TEN ), which he heads today. He was co-founder and editorial board member of the Mexican magazine " Arquitectura ".

Norten, who was also a member of numerous juries and juries, among others since 1999 Honorary Member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA ), a member of the Council of the Deutsche Bank and since 2000 a member of the Sistema Nacional de Arte de Creadores ( SNCA ).

He was from 1980 to 1990 Professor of Architecture at the Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City and lectured been a visiting professor at Cornell University in Ithaca, Parsons The New School for Design and Pratt Institute in New York City, on SCI - Arc in Los Angeles, at Rice University in Houston, at Columbia University and as a " Eero Saarinen " visiting Professor of architectural Design at the Yale School of Architecture in New Haven. He was owner of the " O'Neal Ford " Chair of Architecture at the University of Texas at Austin, " Emil Lorch Professor " at the Department of Architecture of the University of Michigan, and the " Elliot Noyes " guest design critic at Harvard University.

He is currently the owner of " Miller " Chair at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. His firm TEN Arquitectos operates since 2001 a branch in New York City, with 25 employees in Mexico and 35 working in the United States. The company enjoys international recognition, has been represented at numerous competitions and awards for projects. Among other things, received TEN Arquitectos in 2006 an honorary entry in the "Design" category at the Museo Guggenheim de Guadalajara by the American Institute of Architects.
