Enter (Within Temptation album)

Occupation

Vocals: Sharon den Adel

Enter is the title of the debut album of the Dutch metal band Within Temptation. Release was on April 7, 1997.

Genesis

A week after signing a record deal on two albums with the indie label DSFA Within Temptation started with the recordings to enter. The album was recorded in just two weeks. The mix took three more days. The songs by Enter essentially based on two pieces of the first demos of the band, however, were largely rearranged and partially renamed. So the title Pearls of Light was titled on the demo yet simple with Pearls.

As a guest musician played producer Lex Vogelaar the guitar parts of Pearls of Light, and George Oosthoek ( singer of the now defunct Dutch gothic metal band Orphanage ) contributed to the growls at Deep Within.

Style

The debut album by Within Temptation can be, unlike the later albums, the band assigned to the Gothic Metal without further notice. The songs have a melancholy mood and are characterized by the contrast of the clear female vocals of Sharon den Adel and borrowed from death metal growls of guitarist Robert Westerholt. The proximity to the early style of the genre pioneered Theatre of Tragedy is unmistakable.
