The Unforgiving is the fifth album by the Dutch band Within Temptation. It was released through Roadrunner Records in March 2011.

Formation and style

Unlike its predecessor, The Heart of Everything The Unforgiving should be made a bit more modern. A comic -like overall concept selected - this was - also for the lyrics. The music style is not significantly different from the previous albums, but the vocals are a bit rough. The songs usually have catchy hooks and have in part, as the first single from the album Faster elements of hard rock and pop on. The production re- acquired as on the two previous albums by Daniel Gibson has been described as "high end ". The individual songs short films and a comic book were brought out.

Reception

The album reached number seven on the German charts and was able to slightly higher place with space 50 for the first time in the U.S. on the Billboard 200. Michael Rensen wrote in Rock Hard, "The minimal angegruselte comic text concept and the powerful oppressive and trimmed in contemporary, cinema tremendous high-end production falsely suggesting a bicycle kick, which proves to take those jobs, however, it was rather than straightforward played forward flat pass. " He called shot in the Dark a " high flyer "song and awarded 7.5 out of ten. Turned out good songwriting Greg Prato of the website Allmusic.com. The attempt was successful to bring out a concept album that will not weighed down by its storyline. He forgave 3.5 out of five stars.
