The Heart of Everything is the title of the fourth album of the Dutch band Within Temptation. It was released through Roadrunner Records in Europe in March 2007.

Formation and style

The album was recorded between 2005 and 2006 with Daniel Gibson, who already was responsible for the predecessor The Silent Force. The texts were written by vocalist Sharon den Adel and guitarist Robert Westerholt. Stylistically, some pieces of Evanescence and Lacuna Coil are ajar, keyboards are dominant. In other places, such as the ballad Frozen, are symphonic metal elements in the foreground. What Have You Done is a duet with Keith Caputo nobility ( Life of Agony ). The title track is inspired by the film Braveheart.

Reception

In Germany, the album reached number five on the charts. January Jaedike saw in Rock Hard " Hollands Kitsch Metal flagship" " back on track ". He pointed out pieces such as Our Solemn Hour and The Cross and awarded eight out of ten. Greg Prato of the website Allmusic.com praised especially the title track and awarded 3.5 stars out of five.
