Érard II, Count of Brienne

Erard II († 1190 Acre ) was a Count of Brienne Brienne out of the house. He was a son of Count Walter II of Brienne.

Together with his brother Andrew reached Érard with an advance party of the Third Crusade under the leadership of Count Robert II of Dreux in September 1189 Siege of Acre. The brother was killed there on October 4th, in a battle against Saladin, in which Érard itself according to the author of the Itinerarium Regis Ricardi had behaved like a coward and had fled before the enemy. He certainly survived, yet Érard died in the course of the siege in 1190 the battle.

Érard was married to Agnes, a daughter of Count Amadeus II of Montfaucon -Montbéliard. Their children were:

  • Wilhelm ( † before 1200 ), Mr. Pacy -sur -Armançon; ∞ with Eustachie, a daughter of Peter I of Courtenay
  • John of Brienne († 1237 ), King of Jerusalem, Emperor of Constantinople Opel
  • Ida; ∞ with Arnoul de Reynel
