Éric Le Lann

Éric Le Lann ( b. 1957 ) is a French jazz trumpeter and composer.

Le Lann lives in Paris, where in 1979 he won the national jazz competition of La Défense since 1977. Since 1980 he has worked with the quartets of René Henri Texier and Urtreger. In 1981 he completed a series of concerts with Pepper Adams, and was a member of the group of Patrice Caratini and the big band by Martial Solal.

In 1982 he founded his own quartet with André Ceccarelli, Cesarius Alvim and Olivier Hutman. The following year he was awarded the Prix Django Reinhardt the Académie du Jazz. After a tour through India, he joined in 1985 in Bertrand Tavernier's film Autour de minuit with Dexter Gordon, Herbie Hancock and Billy Higgins on. He also composed film scores for Didier Haudepin film Elsa, Elsa and Benoît Jacquot's film Corps et bien.

In 1989 he founded with Louis Winsberg and Paco Sery a fusion jazz group. In the 1990s he appeared in Asia and Africa and recorded an album with songs by Édith Piaf and Charles Trenet. He also worked with Michel Graillier, Martial Solal and Archie Shepp.

In 1999 he composed the film score for Gilles Bourdos ' DISPAROS film and a documentary by Valérie Stroh Simone de Beauvoir. At Bertrand Blier film Les Acteurs he participated as a musician.

Le Lann founded the École de création musicale in Rennes, who was moved to Dinan 2003. For the music of Jean- Bernard Pouys piece 54x13 2001 he received the grand prize of music criticism. For the festival in Lorient Inter Celtique 2002 he composed a piece for twenty-five musicians. With guitarist Jean -Marie Ecay, he played a 2005 compositions by Antonio Carlos Jobim.
