Paco Sery

Paco Séry ( born May 1, 1956 in Divo, Côte d' Ivoire) is an Ivorian jazz and fusion drummer. He is co-founder of the French fusion band Sixun and Leader of Paco Séry Group.

Life and work

At the age of nine years, Paco Séry taught himself to play on a home-made drums. He later moved to Abidjan, where he performed under the name Paco Solo. In 1978 he met Eddy Louis's, two years later took him to Europe. The collaboration with Louis's lasted seven years. He also played two years with Nina Simone.

After a jam session with Jaco Pastorius in Paris in 1985 hired him this on his European tour.

Between 1995 and 2007 he played with Joe Zawinul's band, The Zawinul Syndicate. Joe Zawinul once called him " the best drummer in the world".

Séry worked, inter alia, with the following artists together: Monty Alexander, Mino Cinelu, Dee Dee Bridgewater, André Ceccarelli, Billy Cobham, Michel Colombier, Manu Dibango, Eddie Gomez, Jean -Michel Jarre, Salif Keïta, Éric Le Lann, Didier Lockwood, Ray Lema, Bernard Lubat, Claude Nougaro, Michel Portal, Mike Stern, Carlos Santana, Wayne Shorter and Henri Salvador.
