Éric Tabarly

Éric Tabarly ( born July 24, 1931 in Nantes, † 13 June 1998 in the Irish Sea ) is considered one of the most outstanding offshore sailors and most innovative designers of racing yachts of the 20th century. He made mainly by victories in single-handed races, and various record rides a name. He undercut 1980, 75 years after Charlie Barr's record run over the North Atlantic with the schooner Atlantic in 1905, Barr's record with the aluminum trimaran Paul Ricard (length: 16,50 m) in ten days, five hours and 14 minutes.

Services

The first big success was the victory of TABARLY with the Pen Duick II in the single-handed transatlantic race Observer Singlehanded Transatlantic Race ( OSTAR ) from Plymouth to Newport (Rhode Iceland ) in the USA.
