Eridanus Cluster

The Eridanus galaxies (including the Fornax Cluster of Galaxies II ) is a collection of galaxies, located at a distance of about 85 million light-years at the border of the constellation Eridanus constellation for Chemical oven ( Fornax ). After the Virgo galaxy cluster and the Fornax cluster of galaxies of the Eridanus cluster of galaxies is the third closest galaxy clusters to us. Like the other two mentioned clusters of galaxies includes the Eridanus clusters in the Virgo Supercluster. It contains about 70 brighter galaxies, spread across the sky over an area of approximately 10 °. The pile forms with the the Fornax cluster, the Dorado group and several smaller groups of galaxies, the Eridanus supergroup. Recent research suggests that this is a still under development, larger clusters of galaxies, which will include a total mass of up to 1014 solar masses.

The following list shows the 33 brightest members are listed.

  • Column 1: Name of the galaxy.
  • Column 2: Right ascension of the epoch 2000.
  • Column 3: declination of epoch 2000.
  • Column 4: Apparent magnitude (B- band ) in magnitudes.
  • Column 5: morphological type of galaxy.
  • Column 6: Apparent diameter in minutes of arc.
  • Column 7: diameter 1,000 light- years ( KLJ ).
  • Column 8: Radial velocity (km / s) of the galaxy relative to the cosmic background radiation.
