Erland Brand

Erland Brand ( born October 5, 1922 in Arvika, Sweden) is a Swedish painter and printmaker. He lives and works in Gothenburg.

Brand has studied at the Gothenburg School of Art Valand and subsequently taught there as a lecturer for three years. Characteristic of his work is the incorporation of partially distorted self portraits. While his early works are often woodcuts or Linoliumdrucke, often with complex cloud motifs are found in the later works, watercolors, collages and Kompositarbeiten, for example, in the series ' alphabet ' of 2001 were incorporated into the watercolors and collages in wooden boxes was sealed with a plexiglass window.

His works have been acquired by leading Scandinavian museums, including by the Swedish National Museum in Stockholm, the Museum of Modern Art in Stockholm, from the art museum Gothenburg, from Skissernas museum (museum of sketches ) in Lund, the Fine Arts Museum in Boras, from Sundsvall Museum in Sundsvall, the Nordic Watercolour Museum in Skärhamn and the graphics house in Marie Fred.
