Erling Wikborg

Erling Wikborg ( born November 5, 1894 in Drammen, Buskerud, † 6 April 1992 ) was a Norwegian politician Kristelig Folkeparti (KrF ), the short-term foreign minister of Norway was August-September 1963.

Life

Lawyer and activities in the private sector

Wikborg, son of a surveyor, after attending school in 1913 began to study law, which he in 1919 as Cand. jur. completed. He then worked as a lawyer and received in 1922 a lawyer approval for the Norges Høyesterett, the Supreme Court of Norway. After he completed his postgraduate studies in the meantime in the subjects of international law and maritime law at universities in France and Britain 1922-1923, he founded after his return to Norway in 1923 his own law firm in Oslo. In addition to his legal practice, he was from 1937 to 1940 also examiners at state exam.

In the late 1930s he also took over several functions in the private sector and was from 1938 to 1990 member of the board of A / S Solplassen and 1938-1976 of the insurer A / S Vega and 1940-1984 board member of his family owned insurance and brokerage firm Wikborg Sons A / S.

Chairman of the KrF and Foreign Minister

After the end of the German occupation, he was elected to the Storting in December 1945 as the candidate of Kristelig Folkeparti for the first time deputies, and represented there initially until January 1949 the constituency Akershus. On August 28, 1963, he was appointed by Prime Minister John Lyng as foreign minister in the bourgeois minority government. This formed from Høyre, Kristeligt Folkeparti Senterpartiet and Venstre government Lyngs he belonged to the detachment of the fourth government of Prime Minister Einar Gerhardsen of the Arbeiderpartiet only a month later on 25 September 1963.
