Ernst Christian Walz

Ernst Christian by Walz ( born February 28, 1802 in Münklingen, † April 5, 1857 in Tübingen ) was a German classical scholar and archaeologist.

Rolling was Professor of Classical Philology at the University of Tübingen and director of the archaeological collection of the Philological Seminary. In 1845 he took over after the death Pauly August Friedrich and Wilhelm Siegmund Teuffel the release of the Real - encyclopedia of classical Alterthumswissenschaft. Walz and Teuffel enabled numerous new employees for the project, so that it reached the 1852 final. Roll ill in 1847 and was his work seriously pursue only very limited. Roll has focused particularly on the writings of the classical Greek historians. But his biggest independent company was the edition of the Rhetores Graeci, which appeared in nine volumes from 1832 to 1836. The collection was last reprinted in 1968.
