Wilhelm Siegmund Teuffel

Wilhelm Siegmund of Teuffel (* September 27, 1820 in Ludwigsburg, † March 8, 1878 in Tübingen ) was a German classical scholar.

Life

Wilhelm Si ( e) gmund Teuffel was born in 1820 in Ludwigsburg, Germany, the son of the physician Andreas devil. After 1857 first Schwegler, then roll had died, Teuffel was appointed in September 1857 as a full professor and care with the care of the archaeological department. Teuffels research and publication activity has produced many paintings that were the ancient Egyptians in the 19th century of groundbreaking importance. His colleague Ludwig Schwabe brought in 1882 the fourth edition, which still appeared in a band. The fifth edition (1890), also by Schwabe, appeared in two volumes. Wilhelm Kroll and Franz Skutsch 1910-1913 published the sixth and so far the last edition of the work, which identifies a circumference of four volumes.

Ennoblement

Wilhelm Siegmund Teuffel received in 1875 the Knight's Cross, First Class of the Order of the Württemberg Crown, which was connected with the personal titles of nobility.
