Career as a player

Association

Koeman has grown up in a family footballers. Father Martin played for years GVAV in Groningen; Erwin's younger brother Ronald also played football at the top level. Erwin Koeman made ​​his debut in professional football at FC Groningen. After the first six missions in the Eredivisie, he moved to PSV Eindhoven in 1979, but returned after three seasons back to Groningen. Again, three years later he went in 1985 to the then Belgian top club KV Mechelen. National

Erwin Koeman played 34 times for the Dutch national football team, scoring three goals. In Germany in 1988 he was European champion. This tournament Koeman graduated four games.

Career as a coach

After his active football career Koeman has only youth, later assistant coach alongside Eric Gerets at PSV. In the season 2004/ 05 he was head coach of RKC Waalwijk. His contract with RKC was terminated prematurely because Koeman was committed on 1 July 2005 as manager of Feyenoord Rotterdam.
